How do we find our assignment? Well, number one, the biggest thing I see is people using the “I am waiting on the Lord,” as a huge excuse. Yes, it’s a valid reason, but only when it is valid and not from a fear of taking action. Like, the Lord has already nudged you, but you are scared. Seriously, stop waiting for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to hit you. Most of the time we ‘know’ it’s the right door because you took action. Stop thinking if you get off track you have lost the favor of God. God’s not sitting around waiting for you to mess up. Action breeds clarity. Stay in tune with the Lord. This is supposed to be fun. Just go for it!
Number two, what legitimately sets your soul on fire? You wake up every day thinking about it. You get lost in it and don’t think about eating or sleeping. You are willing to do what it takes to make it happen. I think people tend to confuse passion for excitement. You have to be in tune with what you are LIT On FIRE for. Not everything we are into will turn into our main passion or profession.
The third one is, something people get mad about…Stop taking this so seriously! Have fun! It sounds like we are talking out of both sides of our mouth, but can you just have that childlike faith and have fun with it. Having fun doesn’t mean it isn’t serious. Sometimes we are putting so much pressure on ourselves to have it figured out and to have safety and do it, and do it right. Meanwhile, God is saying to me, “Hey Kid…have some fun with this.” Play. I don’t believe we are meant to live that way. Yes be intentional, but try to let go of the pressure. When you partner with pressure mentality, is that trust and surrender? I have a mantra in my business right now that says the more fun I have the more money I make.
We have to get good at allowing and receiving. It doesn’t mean we don’t do the work or show up. It means it is an internal shift to understanding it doesn’t come from you but from the Lord.
Bonus tip: You have to go to know yourself. I think a lot of women struggle with finding their calling because they just don’t know who they are. You will get out of life what you are deeply convinced of. And you will not repeatedly do what you don’t believe you are. It comes down to identity. We can get lost in other people and in serving. Women seem to always be looking at other people and other things to tell us who we are.
